PWP is a team of students led by staff and volunteers who come together to express themselves through painting murals in our community and building relationships.
Churches, schools, camps, community groups, and friends of the program approach the crew with mural ideas. We then come together weekly to brainstorm, sketch and create a plan, and then create a one of a kind piece of art.
The crew consists of many levels of artistic abilities. It includes students who have dabbled with graffiti art, some that have been artists all their lives, and some just starting to experiment with spray paint. Those abilities go as far as our dj who prefers to let their music selection have its influence instead of their hands…
We show up as a crew, painters, dj, and sometimes kids that are there simply for the atmosphere and to be part of something.
One of the former students, Gabby, explains it like this… “PWP is a safe place to express yourself and your creativity. Not only is it a crew that focuses on fine tuning your artistic talent and healthy creative expression; it’s family that has supported me for so many years. It’s helped me grow into the person I am today.
